As for reality television and reality competition shows, the only one I watch is “The Amazing Race.” I don’t get to see it often, but whenever I do I am intrigued; I get caught up in the drama of the activities the teams are performing and the beauty and culture of the countries they are visiting. The intra- and inter-team drama is less interesting, although it can be amusing.
I’m glad I was able to see last night’s episode; it was the season finale – the moment when the first team to show up to greet the host, Phil Keoghan, at the finish line gets to hear, “You have won the $1 million prize.” It was a nail-biter; won by a hairs-breath by the sister team, LaKisha (Kisha) and Jen Hoffman. I was excited for them and struck by the words of one of the members from the second place team, members of the Harlem Globe Trotters, Herb “Flight Time” Lang and Nate “Big Easy” Lofton: “They came in first when it mattered.” (Continue Reading…)
